(Very Late) Halloween Fun!

Hi all!

I know I’ve been a little bit AWOL recently, and for that I apologise! There’s been a lot going on at work at the moment (all positive – switching to less days so I can be more creative in my down time!) and some other things that have been a little time-consuming.

So, better late than never, I’m back with what should have been my Halloween post! I decided to experiment a little bit with a few costume accessories and use some absolutely gorgeous Playful Promises x Gabi Fresh/Playful Promises x Felicity Hayward lingerie (more on that in a moment!) to create an Angel & Devil set of photos! As usual, these are items that I have paid for, this is in no way a sponsored post. As well as this, I decided that my new Pink Hair warranted a Frenchy Cosplay in celebration of Halloween, which I will talk about at the end of this post!

Now, I apologise in advance for the quality of the photos as I’m currently working with an iPhone 8, but let me tell you about this lingerie! The cuts are quite similar, as you’ll see in the photos below, but I can honestly say I’ve never worn lingerie that is so sexy AND comfortable. I got my usual bra size (40GG in Curvy Kate) but I probably could’ve sized down to my old 38GG in these Playful Promises sets.

Here’s the specific info for each set – for the Devil outfit, I’m wearing the Gabi Fresh Kylie Red Lace Up High Apex Bra in a 40GG, and the Gabi Fresh Kylie Red Lace Up High Waist Knicker in a size UK20. For the Angel, I’m wearing the Felicity Hayward Sybil Baby Blue High Apex Bra Curve in a 40GG, and the Felicity Hayward Sybil Baby Blue Brazilian Brief Curve & Suspender Curve both in a UK20, as well as their gorgeous seamed stockings in the colour Crème De Pêche in a UK 20-22.

As I say above, I probably could’ve sized down in the bras, but I love the cut and it’s nothing I can’t sort out with a needle and thread, and a little patience! I love the fit of the Kylie high waist knicker and the lace up detail is both sexy and playful. The colour is a striking and rich red, perfectly eye-catching! I would love to get some Big Bloomers red stockings to go with it.

The Sybil set is just the most gorgeous blue – I would say more of a periwinkle than a baby blue, but either way it’s now a firm favourite! When I saw the full look posted by PP on their Instagram, I HAD to buy the whole thing – those pinky peach seamed stockings satisfy my obsession with blue/pink outfit colourways. I wondered if they might be too translucent on my (very) pale skin, but they still pop! They have a lovely deep band at the top of the thigh, and while I found them slightly long on my short legs, it’s definitely not enough to worry about. I’m only 5ft on a good day, so make of that what you will!

The Sybil Bra is similar to the Kylie, minus the lacing in the front, and the fit is the same. I could have sized down in the suspender belt, but the briefs fit perfectly. I would’ve liked a high waist version, just as I’m more comfortable with that when wearing a suspender belt, but I still love this set so much!

While I was having fun doing this Halloween shoot, I also decided to style both sets normally, just to see what I would wear with them when ‘lounging’ – for the Kylie I used a black wrap with a lace black lacy motif, and for the Sybil I wore my long dressing gown in pale blue satin.

I love the way both sets make me feel and I can’t wait to add more to my collection! Gabi Fresh’s collab has some awesome bright colours and beautiful fabrics, and Felicity Hayward’s collab is soft pastels with satin and lace. Both collabs also have that cheeky, sexy, sumptuous Playful Promises feel. I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to write this!

Now, as for Frenchy! My awesome hair stylist absolutely nailed my new pink hair, even though I was being ~vague~ about the exact colour I wanted. It has since lightened up, but I’m booked in for after lockdown, fingers crossed! The salon follows all guidelines and I feel incredibly safe there. It’s the only place I go apart from the supermarket for groceries!

The minute I got home I knew I had to style an outfit to match, and I knew I had a lot of pink stuff, so here she is! From the top to the bottom: make up is mostly KVD beauty, scarf was from amazon, jacket is from Collectif, knit top is true vintage (80’s does 50’s I believe), belt is from Hellbunny, Pins are from Pin Up and Pearl, skirt is made by me and the contrasting blue petticoat is a Banned retro, I believe!

This was so much fun to put together and I am definitely going to save it for a night out!

Happy – very late- Halloween, all!
